TBCASoft announces that Weixin Pay (WeChat Pay) users that travel to Japan can pay directly at millions of PayPay merchants across Japan by scanning PayPay’s QR code display, without currency exchange or additional app downloads.

Weixin and its international service WeChat have more than 1.4 billion monthly active users combined.

The service goes live in mid-September 2025.

TBCASoft, in collaboration with ZeroPay and ICB, jointly launched a cross-border mobile payment service in South Korea. ZeroPay is the national QR Code payment standard launched by the South Korean government. ICB is a cross-border fintech company based in South Korea. The HIVEX cross-border payment platform went live on January 6, 2025. ZeroPay, will for the first time, connect its network of MPM and CPM affiliated merchants to the HIVEX cross-border payment platform, greatly enhancing the payment convenience for HIVEX travelers in South Korea.

TBCASoft launched its HIVEX Payment Network in October 2023. Over the past year, we successfully helped Taiwan’s top three e-payment brands – PX Pay Plus, E.Sun Wallet, and JKOPAY – expand into Japan and capture a significant share of the cross-border payment market. The business opportunity for Taiwan-traveler e-wallet payments in Japan is projected to reach one trillion yen before 2025.

Through HIVEX, users can make payments at over a million store locations in Japan that display the PayPay QR code, including department stores, drugstores, restaurants, and even small businesses like izakayas and ramen shops, that historically do not accept credit cards. HIVEX users enjoy a secure, seamless payment experience without the 1.5%+ foreign transaction fee or currency exchange discrepancies.
